Understanding Coercivity?

Hysteresis of soft and hard magnetic materials. Soft magnetic materials have a tall, narrow hysteresis loop due to their low Coercivity and Hard magnetic materials have a tall, but wide hysteresis loop due to their high Coercivity.
Comparison of Small Coercive Force of Soft Ferromagnetic Materials with the Large Coercive Force of Hard Ferromagnetic Materials

What is Coercivity?

What is Coercivity? When we apply an outside magnetic field to a magnetic material, we are forcing it -coercing it- to become magnetized. how much of an applied field is required to demagnetize the material?
